The Taiwanese government stepped 900MW closer to its offshore wind target of 5.5GW by 2025, after Canadian institutional investor Caisse de depot et placement du Quebec and a subsidiary of Taipei-based Cathay Securities Investment Trust completed their combined acquisition of a 50% equity stake in part of Orsted’s 900MW Greater Changhua 1 & 2a offshore wind farm complex in Taiwan (Orsted retained 100% of the 295MW Greater Changhua 2a). 

Orsted is constructing Greater Changhua 1 under a full-scope EPC contract and providing long-term O&M services from its O&M base at the Port of Taichung. The new equity partners are funding 50% of the payments under the EPC contract which includes both generation and transmission.
