Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) has signed a loan agreement with the Government of India to provide an ODA loan of up to JPY100,000 million ($732 million) for the construction of Mumbai-Ahmedabad High Speed Rail (III). The loan’s repayment period will be 50 years and the grace period will be 15 years. 

This project aims to develop a high-frequency mass transportation system by constructing a high-speed rail along an approximately 500-km section between Mumbai in Maharashtra and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. The project will improve the efficiency of the transportation network in the region and contribute to the broad economic development of the target area.
