The financing is supporting the delivery of a critical project for the borrower. It's a unique and intricate deal structure involving a complex multi-jurisdiction transaction; i.e. borrower based in the UAE (Dubai), international lenders with transaction teams based in the UK, Spain, France and the UAE (Dubai), a local UAE bank from Abu Dhabi, suppliers from France, Spain and Turkey, ECAs from France, Spain, Canada, Italy, and Poland. The ECA financing is further supplemented by a commercial term loan of $1,100 million with a tenor of 10 years, funded by five banks (FAB, Intesa, SCB, HSBC and Santander).  Longer tenor, competitive all-in pricing and ample liquidity was achieved through this financing structure. This is an excellent example of an efficient and economically attractive structure being created by taking a client-orientated approach.  High levels of communication were maintained throughout the transaction to ensure a smooth financial close – an important credential for the borrower for this transaction. The involvement of highly respected entities – with uncompromising due diligence requirements – is a clear indication of the financial viability of the borrower’s project.
